Bear hunts take place in the Gila National
Forest of southwestern New Mexico. We offer a very limited number of
bear hunts each fall and usually only take a couple of hunters each
season. Success on our bear hunts is near 100%. These hunts
are similar to our lion hunts. We will be hunting on horseback with
hounds. This is a much faster paced hunt than lion hunting. When the
dogs hit a fresh bear track they can be out of hearing in a matter
of seconds. We have some really good bears in our area. Weights
are variable depending on the feed. Mature bears usually weigh from
250 to 400 pounds. Color variations range from blond to black. During
the fall, bears will usually be feeding on acorns and juniper berries
and this is where we will concentrate our hunting efforts. We
offer a 5 day hunt and accommodations will be either a tent camp or
a bunkhouse. Our clients should come prepared for long days in rough
country. |
